Because I’m super proud of myself for actually finishing this challenge. Many thanks to Ola who started it. I completed this 22 day challenge in about 6 months (lol at myself because I actually thought I could be done by october, haha) and made about 30 posts, not bad.
Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did :)

22 Days of Literati | Day 19 - A scene that happened but you wish had turned out differently (1/2) ↦ Jess doesn’t ask Rory to run away with him but asks her for her forgiveness and for them to be friends again and see where it leads.
‘I’m not asking you to get back together with me. I know I can’t expect you to forgive me right away because it takes times, I know I hurt you but I just want… I want to be able to call you in the middle of the day to talk about that crazy book you lent me, I want to go that record store in New York with you and talk about music for hours, I want to see you in the morning when you haven’t had your first coffee yet and make fun of you because you can’t function properly… I just want a chance to be in your life again.’

22 Days of Literati | Day 18 –
A scene you wish happened but didn’t; Scenes you know happened but we didn’t get to see themThe next time they see each other is a year after Philadelphia, at Lorelai and Luke’s wedding which they always knew would eventually happen. They’re the best man and maid of honor and it’s awkward at the cenemony but then they’re at the reception and after a few glances and cautious smiles Jess asks Rory to dance, fed up with Luke’s nagging. They dance in silence for a while and then she looks up at him and asks how the things have been at Truncheon, even though she already knows from Luke that they moved to New York. He looks at her for a few moments because he knows she started working in the city as well but he doesn’t know if he wants to go through this routine with her again.
“It’s fine. We’ve got loads of work but I’m not complaining. I still cannot believe people are actually interested in what we publish.”
“Oh, I see.” she replies and she hopes he cannot hear the sadness in her voice. And in that moment, he makes the decision.
“We moved to New York some time ago, we think it’ll be good for the business.”
Then she starts rambling about her internship at the New York Times and how she doesn’t have too many friends there and that maybe if he’s bored sometimes he’d want to get coffee together or maybe show her some other cool places in the city but she’ll understand if he thinks it’s not a good idea at all and he cutts her off, laughing.
“Rory, stop.” and after a pause - “Yeah, why not”.
She gives him the biggest smile and lets out a breath she didn’t realise she was holding.
***
They’re both back in New York and Jess waits a couple of days before calling her. They talk about everything and nothing in particular - New York, Luke and Lorelai, their works, books he currently works on are articles she plans to write. They tease each other and talk for minutes and minutes and after they hang up, Rory can’t stop herself from smiling.
***
As soon as they step into the bookstore, she gasps. “Jess, this place is amazing!”
They spend two hours there as she roams through the bookshelves, running to him every few minutes to show him her newest discovery and he catches himself thinking it’d be so easy to get used to this again.
***
She is the one who kisses him and although he’s been thinking about it since the wedding, he still pulls away. “Rory, I can’t do this again. We both know how it’ll end and it’s just too much.”
“No, Jess. It’ll be different this time, we are not the same people anymore and - listen, I know what I want and I know I can’t have it without you. I’m ready for this and I’m ready for you.”
It feels like eternity but he finally takes her face in his hands and kisses her back.
***
They are in Washington Square Park, sitting under a tree. Her back is touching his chest, she makes corrections to her latest article as he reads a book, holding it in one hand while he absently plays with her hair.
“Mmm, it’s nice” she murmurs, turning her head to kiss his neck.
“Yeah, it is.” he replies.
***
It’s been a month since they decided to try being together again and she insisted on preparing dinner at his place. She is in the kitchen and he sits in the living room, pretending to read when he really is listening to the sound of plates clashing together and her swearing under her breath. He smirks knowingly, gets up and stands in the doorway, watching with amusement her frantic movements and a slightly mad look in her eyes.
“Rory, are you sure -“
“Damn it, I did something wrong and I don’t know what! I’m so sorry Jess, I wanted it to be special” she says apologetically. She looks at him with such sadness in her eyes he finds himself walking up to her and wrapping his arms around her.
“You cannot be serious, Rory. I don’t need special. You are here and this is what is important to me.” He kisses her then and when minutes later he starts moving them in the direction of his bedroom, never breaking the contact between them, she forgets all about dinner.
***
She opens her eyes and when she sees Jess sleeping next to her, she feels happiness in its purest form. She lets her eyes wander over his body and she looks at his naked chest, his hand on her arm, a gentle smile on his lips and then she looks at his eyes, which are now open and staring back at her.
“Were you watching me sleep?” he asks teasingly.
“No.” she answers much too quickly and blushes furiously.
“Okay” he smirks.
She looks at him, embarrassed, and he moves her closer to him, watching her the whole time with a tender look in his eyes.
“Hi” she says and touches his cheek.
“Hi” he answers.
***
It’s raining outside as they lie in bed. Rory is reading a book, his one hand is on her stomach as he tries to count the freckles on her shoulder with his other hand.
“I give up, it’s impossible!” he finally says, exasperated.
She laughs, puts her book down and turns her head to his side. “See, I told you so. Now you’ll know not to question me ever again” ahe says with a satisfied smile.
“Oh, we’ll see about that” he says and she kisses him, sighing contentedly. They look at each other for the longest time and when he opens his mouth, she already knows what he’ll say.
“I love you, did you know that?” he tells her. He looks at her calmly, with no sign of hesitation or nervousness in his eyes. This time he doesn’t run away; and this time she says it back and as soon as the words roll off her tongue, she knows she’s never been more certain about anything in her life.
Using Ola’s answer for that one because it’s perfect :)

22 Days of Literati | Day 17 - Favorite Rory quote about/to Jess
Rory: You know you’re smarter than most everybody at your school. It takes you like five minutes to finish a book. You read everything, you remember everything, you could ace those classes easily. Why don’t you? You don’t need a tutor. It’s crazy that they’re talking about leaving you back.
Jess: Whatever.
Rory: You can do anything you wanted, you can be anything you wanted.
Jess: Rory…
Rory: I… is it like a cool thing?
Jess: I could care less about being cool. I’m never going to college, why waste the time in high school?
Rory: And why aren’t you going to college?
Jess: Please.
Rory: What? Please what – why is it so crazy?
Jess: Ask my mother, she could give you a couple reasons. Oh, and I’m sure Principal Mertin can chime in with a few good ones. In fact, ask your mother. She doesn’t know me all that well but I’m sure she could improvise a few things.
Rory: Do not give me that whole ‘I’m so misunderstood, Kurt Cobainy’ thing. You are way stronger than that and I don’t even wanna hear it. […] You could do more.
Jess: Oh, here come the pompoms.
Rory: No, no pompoms, just me saying you could do more.
22 Days of Literati | Day 16 - Favorite Jess quote about/to Rory
‘Come with me. Do it. Come with me. Don’t think about it. You don’t think you can do it but you can. You can do whatever you want. I know you. Look, we’ll go to New York. We’ll work, we’ll live together, we’ll be together. It’s what I want. It’s what you want, too. I want to be with you, but not here. Not this place, not Stars Hollow. We have to start new. You’re packed. Your stuff is all in boxes. It’s perfect. You’re ready. And I’m ready. I’m ready for this. You can count on me now. I know you couldn’t count on me before, but you can now. You can. Look, you know we’re supposed to be together. I knew it the first time I saw you two years ago, and you know it, too. I know you do.’
22 Days of Literati | Day 15 - Favorite little moments
22 Days of Literati | Day 14 - A scene that made you smile
22 Days of Literati | Day 13 - A scene that made you sad: ‘So, you’ll call me?’ ‘Yeah, I’ll call you.’
22 Days of Literati | Day 12 - A scene that makes you happy: ‘What is much?’
I didn’t really know what scene to choose because most of their scenes make me quite happy so I picked this one because I always get excited when I rewatch Gilmore Girls and get to this scene.
22 Days of Literati | Day 11 - Favorite book discussion: ‘You’re a book tease.’
Rory: Do you love it?
Jess: It’s great.
Rory: The Holy Barbarians. I mean, what a title. And it’s by a Venice Beach beatnik about Venice Beach beatniks, and to top it off, the beatnik who wrote it is the father of the guy that does those Actor’s Studio interviews on TV.
Jess: The guy with the beard?
Rory: Yeah, the pointy beard. That’s his dad writing at his desk.
Jess: Oh, it’s weird that a weird beatnik-y guy would have a conservative son like that.
Rory: Maybe he’s not that conservative. Maybe at night, he, like, takes off his clothes and parties.
Jess: Aw, man, now get that picture out of my head.
Rory: It’s a cool book, you’ve gotta admit.
Jess: It is. Thanks.
22 Days of Literati | Day 10 - Favorite bickering scene: ’So you can’t control when you look at me, but you have to force yourself to look at him? Sorry man, that’s cold.’
