Anonymous asked: First... i'm sorry for asking, but i was just wondering, when you make your gifs, do you use the screencaps mode or what? I want to learn how to make gif, but I only found tutorials with screencaps and this way i can't :(

Hello! I do make screencaps in order to make gifs. How come you can’t use screencaps? All you need is kmplayer and this tutorial. If kmplayer doesn’t work properly for you, I suggest you try and do this.

Anonymous asked: Can you please make a cougar town PSD? :)

Yep! I think it works on everything, not just cougar town caps :)

Anonymous asked: May I ask what font you used on the Emma and Rupert gif where they talk about the kissing scene. Thanks in advance.

Franklin Gothic Medium Condensed, with those settings:

here.

I was in a sharing mood so I thought I’d post a .psd of mine. It’s a purple/yellow-ish coloring that works on most Hart of Dixie caps and I guess it could work on other caps as well. Enjoy!

rick-grimes-deactivated20120419 asked: I love your gifs :D What font(s) do you use for them?

Thanks! I either use arial or ITC Franklin Gothic. :)

Anonymous asked: this probably sounds like a stupid question, but how do you get the black borders around text when making gifs? I select the text, then go to layer>layer style> stroke and select a 2px black border but it only changes the first frame and i end up having to repeat that with all the frames, do you do it in a different manner? [sorry i'm anon, i feel kind of embarrassed for not knowing this:/]

Don’t worry, anon, it does the same thing to me. Here’s what you need to do: do the stroke option thing on the first frame of your gif, then select all of the frames and deselect the effects options, like this:

Then re-select it, and the black border should be visible on all frames.

heartsinsync asked: Hi Aurore :) I have a photoshop question re: this post (post/5641673338) because the colouring is absolutely stunning and I was wondering how you managed to get the colouring so light but unpixelated? I always find TVD caps hideous to work with because they're so dark and horrible, but yours have turned out beautifully!

Hi! First of all: thank you! :) Second of all: I’ve got to say I pretty much hate this coloring now lol but I’ll try and remember what I did to come up with it. Also, I agree: TVD captures are the woooorst. I tried not using dark caps. Also the fact that this picspam is mostly 3*3 caps is helping the fact that it doesn’t look pixelated, because the caps are smaller.

  • So first you have this:
  • Duplicate layer> set to screen. Duplicate until it’s bright enough (in this case: 4 times). You get this:
  • Layer>new fill layer> gradient> choose the default one (which is black to transparent for me) and set it to soft light. Then use another gradient layer, also set to soft light (and 50% otherwise it’s too bright): black to white this time. You get this:
  • New Adjustment layer> selective color. Don’t change anything, just set to soft light (and 50%) You get this:
  • Layer>new fill layer> solid color (set to multiply) and choose a (very) light beige color (in this case I used #ffeddf) you get this:
  • And then I used curves to lighten up the cap a bit, levels to darken what was already dark and sharpen. Ta-da!

Anonymous asked: hello. do you know how i made gif with moving selected object and others motionless? how can i explaine i dont know sorry =/

You just do your gif and then you select the part that you don’t want to see moving, copy it and past it over all the other layers.

Anonymous asked: which font do you use for your text? And how u doing black lines around the text?

Arial (bold, italic). I select the text, then go to layer>layer style> stroke and select a 2px black border.

Anonymous asked: well, at least a tutorial for a similiar coloring? :(

I don’t have time to do a tutorial now ‘cause I have to go to work so I tried re-doing the coloring very quickly, here’s the psd (I have no idea if it works on other caps though).

Anonymous asked: It's great of you to answer all of the questions you get about photoshop! I was just wondering how you get the edges of a picture so clean when you're adding a different background? Like in your graphic with Hermione and Ron on a light pink background, because when I use the wand tool on photos to cut only certain parts out, the edges don't look as clean as yours do. Thank you! :)

Heeey! I don’t really know which graphics you’re talking about, link me to it? :) Nevermind, found it! To be honest… I don’t know xD I made that thing a year ago and I’m surprised of how nicely the background has been cut out ‘cause I’m not sure I’d know how to do that now O_o I don’t use the wand tool, I use the magnetic lasso tool and when I’m done selecting the area, right click >refine edge. Change the settings and it doesn’t look ‘smooth’. Hope that helps!

Anonymous asked: hey, um, i recently (i.e. five minutes ago) asked a question about how you get your caps so 'clean looking' because mine are alway so blurry whether they're from a DVD, iTunes, or the internet. the internet where I'm at has been pretty shoddy, and I'm not insisting you answer my question right now, I'm just sending another one in because I wasn't sure if you got it. Hope this one goes through! sorry if the other one did as well and this is a duplicate.

Hi! Well I didn’t get your first message so… :) Maybe you should try sharpening your caps? Caps are always a bit blurry at first so when you’re done with your coloring, go to filter>sharpen>smart sharpen. Hope that helps!

Anonymous asked: Okay this is gonna be about photoshop tips :)
firstly i love that your willing to help other people with it.

anyway i ve been reading through all your photoshop tips, and they help
theres just a few things i was wondering if you could clear up?

firstly the thing with soft lighting- if i am working on a photo and make a new layer on top with soft lighting it doesnt seem to make any difference, am i doing something wrong??

also what do you mean when you say set to screen??

im sorry these probably seem like reallly stupid questions,
i would really appreciate your help, thanks :)

I don’t really understand what you mean about soft ligting?

Also ‘set to screen’ means that you have to select the ‘screen’ mode when creating the layer:

(You can also change it after you created the layer: right-click>blending mode.)

Hope that helped! (also I totally understand that question because when I started using photoshop, I used to read tutorials and I didn’t know what ‘set to’ meant either so… xD)

Anonymous asked: heeey:) is it alright if I ask you how you do to create the soft edge between the screencaps in graphics such as this?

http://sundaystorms.tumblr.com/post/6212254406

Hi! I just select the edges with the rectangular marquee tool and then filter>blur. :)

Anonymous asked: What a beautiful coloring you did in this last graphic you made! Mind telling what steps you took? :)

Thank you! The last one I made was the Southland one and to be honest I didn’t do much ‘cause the un-edited version already looks like this. So I just needed a selective color layer set to soft light and I added a light pink-ish fill layer set to multiply. It looks good because the show is super gorgeous :)
