‘You should have met me in 1864. You’d have liked me.’

I’ve said it before, I have conflicted feelings about them. My love for them has slowly decreased in the second half of the season because of Damon’s behavior. We know Damon is fucked up, we’ve seen it. What annoys me is that Damon is so passionate about Elena, he’s so afraid of losing her that he doesn’t respect her decisions. I was truly disgusted when he made her drink his blood. And I still think it needs more build-up on Elena’s part (which is probably why I didn’t understand why she said “I like you the way you are” because I was thinking “Really? You like the stubborn, cold-blooded killer that he is sometimes?”) I’m positive we’ll get that build-up in the 3rd season with Stefan gone and Damon’s possible redemption (I haven’t read spoilers but my predictions are: with all that happened he’s going to stop being so fucked up and try to be more the Damon he was in 1864. Also lol I say predictions, it’s more like hopes.) I feel like I’m renting way too much on a post that is supposed to be about why they’re on this list, it’s just that I can’t bring myself to quit them and I still feel happy whenever they share a meaningful scene :)
